Meet Carly Farmer, 25 year old college graduate, Pilates and yoga instructor, beautiful girl with drop dead smile, businesswoman, daughter to two of my dearest friends and owner of VILLA PILATES AND YOGA located in Newport Beach, California.

CARLY FARMER
Villa Pilates opened its doors in January of 2010, and has quickly become one of the hottest boutique studios in town. From the beginning, Villa was destined to be a place you wanted to be part of. From the eco-friendly design of the studio, the lovely natural light, wood beam ceilings and cottage like charm of the building, it’s hard to resist.
The warm vibe hits you, the moment you step through the door.

CLASSES ARE INTIMATE AND PERSONAL
Opening and running a studio day to day is no easy task. It takes commitment, long hours and sacrifice (especially when you are only 25) to make it all work. Carly credits the support of her family and hard work to her success. Her dad Jeff, was instrumental in the business development of the project, her mom Karen had her pulse on the details and was by her side to bring it all together, Grandpa Clive was (and is) the master behind the web site and installation of the online shop and Grandma Peggy added a personal touch by making her (adorable) hand knit beanies that are being sold in the retail section of the store. Oh, I must not forget Grandma Norma ( 80 something dynamo ) who is also a client. It really is, a family affair !

FAMILY FIRST

PAPA JEFF STRIKES A POSE
The studio is open six days a week. There are six instructors plus Carly that teach the 20 Pilates and 7 yoga classes offered weekly. This does not include the privates and semi privates offered by appt. Carly selects experienced and seasoned professionals who love what they do and bring fresh energy and new moves to their classes. Carly says the Villa Girls “ have warm souls”. She feels a special bond with all of them.
To top it off the studio has an adorable little retail section that is home to a stylish crop of yummy work out /lounge wear, seasonal gifts ( including various driftwood home goods made by Karen Farmer ), organic juices by Ritual Cleanse and Phil’s Power Pancakes ( also organuc and healthy too !). Villa recently launched their online store and hope to grow the retail portion of the business in the near future.

THE SCOOP :
WHAT ADVICE CAN YOU GIVE YOUNG WOMEN STARTING OUT IN BUSINESS ?
PASSION. Find something that you love so much that you are ok to give up your life for the first year or two to get your business going. Find something that (for the most part), doesn’t feel like work. Stay true to what you believe in, always show up, and ALWAYS give 100%. Don’t ever settle, always be on top of your game, and never stop learning.
HOW DO YOU ENJOY YOUR YOUTH AND STILL STAY FOCUSED ON BUSINESS ?
Balance and moderation are two things I strive for in everything I do. I definitely enjoy my cocktail hour with my friends, my weekend getaways, and seeing and doing new things, but I also work really hard and enjoy my job. When I find myself burning the candle at both ends, I take a step back. It’s really important to me to always feel good. As long as I feel good, I feel like I’m doing a good job at balancing my life.
WHAT ARE YOUR DREAMS FOR THE FUTURE ?
Being a part of someone’s journey to be healthy is one of the best gifts you can give. Sometimes I think to myself, “I have this vessel connected to such a supportive community of people, that we can really do anything and change so many lives for the better.” I want to help more people. I dream of expanding my yoga program so that we can have yoga classes going all day. I dream of donation classes to help those in need. I dream of a little organic café connected to Villa. I dream of having more retail in our shop and I dream of opening another Villa in another charming little town, like Santa Barbara or Solana Beach.
I’m dreaming all the time….
WHAT QUOTE BEST DESCRIBES YOUR PHILOSOPHY OF LIFE ?
“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.” – Mae West
This is just the first chapter in the adventures of “Carly Famer”, we wish you great success !
